Clockwork
This Transmutation Specialization specifically aids in creating and modifying clockwork automatons
Rank 1: Minor Automatons
Can create Simple automatons to perform a single repetitive and simple task. Such as a pump, an ever rotating wheel, etc. Of course more complex machines can be built around this.
Rank 2: Lesser Automatons
Can build an Automaton that is far stronger. While the machine is still incapable of thought or true skill, you can create an automaton with a body stat of 1, and can program it with a specific task. This can be upgraded with normal fleshcrafting rules, though it can never have a mind or soul stat, and will only perform one mindless task. This larger task can be more complex though. Cleaning in a pre-programed route, fetching water back from a specific place, building a straight tunnel, etc.)
Rank 3: Strength of Clockwork
You can start to blend machine and flesh. This is highly unstable though, and any creature modified with this trait must make a body check every week, or die. The DC starts at 15, and increases by one for each previous check. This is of course ideal for temporary creations. Clockwork creatures gain +2 Body, and can have any clockwork creation grafted to them. The clockwork addition can be any tool, but must be created before it is grafted on. Alternately the Creator can choose one skill they are proficient in, and create a tool to give the creature a bonus to that skill equal to the creators ranks in engineering.
Learned Trait:
Flesh to Machine
(Requires a soul-gem, or 4 Ranks of Transmutation (with Clockwork Specialization) and 3 Ranks of Fleshcrafting. Converts a living creature into an automaton with a single dedicated purpose. (Delivering Messages, traversing a pre-determined route, running a mill, etc.)
Rank 4: Redundant parts
Trait:
You have learned how to include redundant parts to keep your clockwork creations 'living'. Your clockwork creatures gain ranks of extra health equal to your engineering skill. In addition, provided they are able to receive reasonable maintenance, they no longer need to make body checks to survive. If they go a full month without maintenance, then they must start making checks, as normal, until they die, or receive maintenance.
